Dave Portnoy lays ANOTHER huge $200,000 bet after Stanley Cup loss

Dave Portnoy has lumped $200,000 on the Philadelphia Phillies after his gambling hot streak came to an end with the Stanley Cup Final.

The Barstool Sports founder would have pocketed $1.2million had the Oilers beat the Panthers, after he put $150,000 on Edmonton back in April.

But Florida won Game 7 to lift hockey’s biggest prize – and bring Portnoy’s incredible run to an end. 

The 47-year-old claims to have made $5.4m in the first four months of 2024 alone, having rightly called results in golf, college basketball, NFL and college football. He has since enjoyed big wins with the NBA, too.

‘The streak ended last night. I can’t be mad at the Oilers. They gave it a great run,’ Portnoy wrote on X.

Portnoy filed for bankruptcy protection back in 2004 amid $90,000 debt – $30,000 of which came in the form of gambling losses, according to the New York Times.

But the Barstool founder is now throwing another six-figure sum on sports. He posted a receipt of a $200,000 bet on Philadelphia to win the 2024 World Series.

Should the Phillies go all the way this season, Portnoy would win a staggering $1.4m. Bryce Harper and Co are among the favorites to win the World Series, with Philadelphia currently boasting the best record in MLB.

Portnoy recently put $180,000 on Scottie Scheffler to win the Travelers Championship – at odds of +180. The world No 1’s victory saw him pocket $504,000.

Earlier this month, a two-pick parlay – on Scheffler to win the RBC Heritage and the Celtics to win the NBA finals – saw Portnoy turn $100,000 into $1.59m.

Scheffler had already won the Barstool founder $1.35m after triumphing at this year’s Masters.

Portnoy also bet $600,000 on UConn men’s basketball to win this year’s NCAA tournament. 

The Huskies’ second successive national championship earned the Barstool boss $2.7m.

He had previously won huge bets on the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl and Michigan to beat Alabama in a College Football Playoff semifinal.
